Summary :

The site consisted of 63Nr individual chalet blocks with external cantilever walkways providing access to the first floor units. Precast concrete staircases provided pedestrian access at each end of the walkways.

The client had noted numerous areas of defective and spalling concrete to the walkway soffit, support beams and staircase treads and requested a concrete condition survey in order to provide a repair specification and cost advice for budget purposes.

Services :   

The client approached JDF RS Limited to undertake the concrete condition survey.

Carbonation depths, depths of concrete cover to reinforcement and chloride analysis was undertaken in addition to hammer test and cover meter activities.

Essential concrete repairs were carried out as part of a make safe exercise to ensure the ongoing safety of the structures using Sika repair mortars.
