Summary :
Quality Fast Facades were brought in by the building maintenance team as a contractor tasked with the replacement of fire retardant cladding. Before their works commenced, a number of defects were noted on the concrete frame and the building owners decided that concrete repairs were a priority.
Working off a combination of scaffolding and MEWP access, JDF RS Limited were brought in to undertake a detailed concrete condition survey which included tests for chloride, carbonation, cover to reinforcement, as well as a hammer test survey to locate and measure areas of damage and defect.
Refurbishment :
JDF RS Limited provided a detailed report of findings which concluded that the higher levels of concrete reinforcement had been penetrated by airborne chlorides, causing considerable damage and spalling to the cover concrete, largely due to the coastal proximity.
A specification was drawn up in conjunction with Sika and presented to the client alongside our concrete repair quotation.
The repair works are anticipated to commence in the near future.
